CREATE Health

Translational research in relation to cancer is a focus of our research. The strategic CREATE Health research center, coordinated by the department, is therefore a focal point of our research. This vision of this strategic centre is to use an integrative approach to develop novel diagnostics and therapeutics in relation to cancer. We do this mainly by identifying markers and molecular signatures that differentiate cancer from other conditions. That way we intend to create a substantial social impact for the patient, through direct application of research for selection of an optimal, individually created, cancer treatment.

COFUND programs

The Department is hosting two COFUND programs, CanFaster-doctoral program (2018-2022) and CanFaster-postdoctoral program (2020-2024), which are performed in collaboration between three different faculties and more than 15 principle investigators at Lund University. The programs aim to attract excellent international scientific expertise with an interest in applied medical research in oncology and entrepreneurship to Lund University, CREATE health and Medicon Village. The initiatives build on collaboration between industry, healthcare and academia to strengthen and accelerate innovations and clinical implementation in oncology. The fellows will gain an understanding of unmet needs in the clinic and learn the mind-set of entrepreneurs in addition to their work in each specific cancer-oriented project.
