Biotech builder award to Professor Carl Borreback

Carl Borrebaeck, Professor at Department of immunotechnology, has been granted the prestigious BiotechBuilders Award for his pioneering medical research and role as entrepreneur within Life Science as co-founder to SanzaGen, Immunovia, Alligator Bioscience and BioInvent. The award was given at the annual BiotechBuilders event in Stockholm the 28th of August 2017. Through his commitment in SenzaGen, Carl Borrebaeck has contributed to the development of GARD – a gene based test for evaluation of chemical substances with allergenic properties, which reduce the need for animal testing.  

Carl Borrebaeck received the BiotechBuilders Award with the motivation that he is a successful multi-entrepreneur who has contributed to the creation of numerous new life science companies, including Alligator Bioscience, Immunovia, BioInvent and SenzaGen. Also, his efforts in building scientific networks, among others Medicon Village, NOME(Nordic Mentor Network for Entrepreneurship) and Cancer Crosslink Conference, his position as a successful ”biotech builder“ makes him a valued representative figure for the Swedish Life Science industry.
