Myeloid Biomarkers and Immunotherapy group

Our research focuses on the role of myeloid cells within the tumour microenvironment and strategies to modulate their functional activities.

Tumour-infiltrating myeloid cells represent a highly heterogeneous population, including distinct subtypes and cellular states of macrophages, dendritic cells, monocytes, and granulocytes. These cells exhibit diverse immunoregulatory functions, ranging from immunostimulatory to immunosuppressive, which are critical for shaping the immune landscape of tumours.

To elucidate the functional heterogeneity of myeloid subpopulations in tumour samples, we leverage advanced technologies such as single-cell transcriptomics, spectral flow cytometry, and spatial tissue analysis. Complementing these approaches, we design and implement bioinformatics workflows tailored to analyse the complexity of these datasets.

Through close collaboration with clinicians, our work aims to identify and validate myeloid-specific biomarkers for patient stratification and prognostication. Furthermore, we investigate the impact of myeloid-targeted therapies on immune activity in tissues and blood, contributing to the development of more effective immunotherapeutic strategies.
