Prof. Mats Ohlin has been elected to the TR-IG Nomenclature Review Committee

Mats Ohlin

The TR-IG Nomenclature Review Committee (TR-IG NRC) functions under the T-cell Receptor and Immunoglobulin Nomenclature Sub-Committee (TR-IG NSC) of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). In this role, Prof. Mats Ohlin will assess, designate, and report newly identified germline genes and alleles encoding T-cell receptors (TR) and immunoglobulins (IG).

Modern sequencing technologies continuously identify new:

  • Germline gene variants
  • Alleles (different versions of the same gene)
  • Previously unrecognized immune receptor genes.

The committee's work provides a common international reference framework. This is especially important for:

  • Antibody discovery
  • Immune repertoire sequencing
  • Clinical immunology
  • Cell and gene therapy development
  • Population genetics studies.
