Cancer

Recent achievements in basic and translational cancer research have profoundly increased and deepened our overall understanding of how tumours behave. A rapid technology development has also taken place, which enables us to take a holistic, concerted action approach to combat cancers by combining clinical knowhow, global analysis technologies for early diagnosis and subdivision of cancers, with novel approaches to target various cells in the tumour environment. Consequently, a plethora of basic and advanced methods are used and developed within the department, focusing on e.g. improved detection and diagnosis, development of MS-based platforms for basic and applied breast cancer research, development of cancer vaccines and identification of novel diagnostic, prognostic and functional antigens, within a variety of cancer indications. The common starting point includes a well-defined clinical problem that can be explored, using advanced methods and in vitro models.
