The Department of immunotechnology, with Sofia Waldermarson, Sara EK and Fredrik Levander as the main applicants, has received SEK 1 million from Medicon Village owner foundation, Mats Paulssons Research

The Department of immunotechnology, with Sofia Waldermarson, Sara EK and Fredrik Levander as the main applicants, has received SEK 1 million from Medicon Village owner foundation, Mats Paulssons Research, Innovation and Societal Development fund, SEK 1 million from the “Stiftelsen Stefan Paulssons cancerfond” and SEK 4 million from LTH for a new liquid chromatography (LC) mass spectrometry (MS) system.  This joint funding of a new mass spectrometer will enable researchers at the Department of Immuntechnology, as well as researchers at other departments at Lund University and members of Medicon Village to accelerate their discoveries of biomarkers for disease. With this new much more sensitive MS system, researchers will be able to detect low abundant proteins in clinical samples, such as plasma and tumour biopsies. This MS equipment also uses smaller samples volumes, saving clinical material for other analysis methods. The investment in this new equipment will also enable new collaborations between industry and academia at Medicon Village.
